Thermocouple Type K 1050ºC Immersion Probe For Non Ferrous Metals

This is an ordered in item and as such is non refundable

We have sourced a range of Professional British made thermocouples built using heavy duty materials specifically for use in non ferrous molten metals. These assemblies have been designed to operate in the most demanding environments.

Each device is cabable of 600 dips approximately, before it burns out. This is dependant upon the temperature of the melt not exceeding the specification as well as the duration the tip is inserted into the melt. The tip is cabable of measuring up to 1300ºC but at this temperature reduced life span is inevitable. It is advisable to always use non wetting product to keep the tip clean from metal and slag.

To ensure long life store in a safe place after use and when cool remove any dross with a spatula / scraper and re-apply a non-wetting coat of graphite/carbon or deltacast ladle coat.

Specification:

  • K type thermocouple Nickel Chromium / Nickel Aluminium tip
  • Temperature range 0 to 1050 ºC
  • Immersion Sheath 170mm of Chrome Iron resistant to corrosion suitable for immersion into non-ferrous metals
  • Steel Lance 730mm
  • Rubber handle 110mm
  • 2 meter lead and plug

Usage:

  • Clean tip and apply non-wetting product
  • Plug into K type thermometer using correct polarity
  • Remove excess slag and immerse sheath into the melt (Do Not Immerse Deeper Than sheath Length)
  • The reading will appear quickly on the handheld device - make a note of it or use the hold feature if you have one.
  • Hang up the thermocouple in a safe place do not attempt to clean it until cool.
  • Remember that the metal will cool whilst removing from the furnace and this means it needs to be hotter than you need to allow for the chilling factor.
